Clarification of the Centromere Modality
The kinetochore is an essential structure for accurate chromosome segregation. Kinetochore formation requires a unique mode by which the centromere DNA is organized by kinetochore proteins. Although the kinetochore functions in M phase, it has begun to be suggested that the binding networks between the kinetochore proteins and centromeric chromatin or within the kinetochore proteins are different from those in interphase. In this study, we focus on the dynamic changes in these binding networks. We will clarify what kind of binding changes are occurring within the centromere and the significance of these changes in cells.
